Did you know Rangers played in the UEFA Cup final in 2008? The Scottish media seems to think you don't because they take every tenuous opportunity to slip a reference to it in no matter how unrelated the subject matter.
Prime example - two seperate references on BBC stories today, one previewing CELTIC's match against Atletico Madrid tonight and another about the life and recent death of David Francey.
"Rangers fans will remember Diego fondly, given they knocked him out of the Uefa Cup on their way to the final in 2008 when he was at Werder Bremen."
Or maybe they don't have a scooby who he is like 99% of the players they "knocked out" on the way to the UEFA Cup final in, what year was it again.... aye 2008. They probably remember him as fondly as they remember Martin Bain.
"John Barnes was the BBC Scotland commentator the last time a Scottish team was in a European final, when Rangers lost to Zenit St Petersburg in the Uefa Cup in 2008."
Any excuse eh?
At least England actually won in 1966.
